Rivers State Scholarship Beneficiaries Suffering Abroad Cry To The Governor
Students given scholarships to study abroad by the Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency
(RSSDA), cry to the governor, Gov.
Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, which have not been interested in their welfare
since the scholarship sent them to different universities abroad.
A beneficiary who was
identified as Preshi Amaewhule, posted his complaints on
Facebook, saying:
"Am crying and
desperate, I am a beneficiary of the Rivers State Governorship overseas
scholarship which is been handled by the RSSDA (Rivers State Sustainable
Development Agency).
“The state government sent me to Hungary, just as so
many of us were sent to study all over the world in several universities. I am
studying at the University Of Debrecen.
“To cut the long story short, we have not been given
our regular payments for the past 7 months, and still counting. All our
attempts to get the governor to come to our aid has proven abortive. In fact,
with the political crisis in my state, I don’t see us getting paid soon because
our Governor, His Excellency Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, does not look interested
in our welfare anymore.
“All am asking is for you to share this so that we may
be able to continue our studies here and not get deported. I am one of many
students suffering and languishing, with no hope for food, clothing or accommodation
fees, plus we have to pay bills tomorrow. Help me and other students to pass
the information around,” he summed.
