Polytechnic workers in the country yesterday charged President-elect,
Gen. Muhammad Buhari to give welfare of Nigerian workers a top priority in his

Nigerian Polytechnics (SSANIP) lamented that political office holders in
Nigeria earn “fabulous salaries” and allowances when compared with their counterparts’
world over adding that Nigerian workers are among the least paid globally.
“The Association congratulated Gen. Buhari, his Vice Prof Yemi Osinbajo
and the All Progressives Congress (APC) for their victory at the March, 28
Presidential election and urged them to be magnanimous in victory”.
The workers noted that the antecedents of the President-elect,
especially in the area of anti-graft crusade actually delighted him to SSANIP,
whose members have been on a nationwide strike since March 24.
They observed that “the Nigerian workers have great hope in the
President-elect and we therefore urge him to tackle, head on, the issue of
corruption which has eaten deep into our socio-economic and political fabrics”.
“If you (Buhari) can win the war against corruption and general
indiscipline, a broader way will be opened for Nigeria’s accelerated
development”, SSANIP pointed out.

nation and believe in oneness of Nigeria” which they said he shown by his
acceptance of the verdict of the presidential election.
