Godly Alternatives - Relative Truth
(God is not an option, He gives the options and man chooses.)
Relative means proportional, comparative. Another word for it is "It depends"
This is the truth that relates to us as normal human. For example: It is a relative truth that guys/girls get sexually aroused and have the natural desire to have sex but there is another truth that controls this truth. It is the absolute truth that you must not have sex with any lady or guy you are not married to. This truth says sex is for marriage, in marriage and never outside the boundaries of marriage. This is the absolute truth of God that can never be relative to us creatures of God.
Many youths like you and me, in an attempt to satisfy their sexual desires say stuff like this - It is only normal and natural that I have the desire to have sex and the only logical thing to do is to satisfy my desire. In doing this, we have neglected and denounced the existence of God and His command, trying to live and think for ourselves by thinking we have a head to think and we know what to do without anyone telling us or controlling us.
Relative to me is another word for it depends. It compares to a body or an object or an established fact or person. It does not stand on its own.
This kind of truth is different to the absolute truth we discussed about last week Wednesday.
A relative truth can be known or not known, it doesn't matter because it is not universal, it only applies in this case to the person or group of people or organization or entity involved. I may know it or not, it is inconsequential neither does it have any lasting or eternal consequence. Even if there is any, it only applies to now and here.
What do I mean? For example, there are some truths about guys and ladies that may not be of much importance to the other party - I mean some truths about ladies may not matter to men and vice versa because it is relative to their gender and make up. We may not know about them and still manoever our ways and live together peacefully but the more we know, the better.
But there is another truth that says: Love your neighbour as yourself. This is an absolute truth. If you know this truth and you obey it, there is no need to know these other relative truths because this one takes care of them relationship-wise.
We cannot lie about the absolute truths because they are there, boldly and clearly written for everyone to see and follow but we can hide the truth about ourselves or truths about others that we know or have heard about. In our relationships and communion with one another, God, the creator expects us to deal in truth - both by following His divine, unchangeable and absolute truths and our normal interpersonal relative truths. I must sincerely find out in love about truths that is relative to people around me and they also must deal in the same truth by opening up about the truths that are personal and relates to them to others who they know are sincere, ready to help and are much concerned about out welfare.
Aside from these personal truths, there are also truths that arise as a result of our day to day conversations, actions and interactions. In these also, we must deal truthfully.
Thanks for stopping by, I love you with all my heart. And the truth is: GOD LOVES YOU!
