Over 9000 Nigerians Studying In Canada
The Canadian High Commissioner to Nigeria, His Excellency,
Perry Calderwood has disclosed that there over 9,000 Nigerian students
studying in various tertiary institutions in Canada.
The Canadian envoy and the Deputy High Commissioner,
Marcello Difranco and Second Secretary Madame Johnson stated this during a formal visit to the Vice Chancellor, University of Lagos (UNILAG), Professor Rahman Bello
in his office.
He was received in the
office of the VC by principal officers of the university that include the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Management
Services) Prof. Duro Oni, and the Registrar
and Secretary to the Council, Dr. Folashade Ipaye among others that were in
attendance.
His Excellency Calderwood
whose presence at the University marked his second visit, assured that his home
government would explore additional opportunities for partnership with the
University in the area of entrepreneurship education for students, scholars
exchange programmes and capacity building.
Recalling that his PhD
was obtained from a Canadian University, the Vice Chancellor acknowledged the
good students friendly learning environment in the Canada.
He further drew the
attention of the High Commissioner to the University Foundation programmes with
over six partner Universities worldwide and requested for further exploration
of partnership agreement with Canadian Universities through the High
Commissioner.
