NEWS-WIRE To Assist Students And Universities
The African Press Organisation, or APO, the
continent’s only press release news wire, has joined forces with international
information provider NewsBank to furnish Africa-related
news releases to students, colleges and universities, schools, libraries, professionals
and researchers around the world.
“It's 10
days since we started,” Nicolas Pompigne-Mognard, founder
and chief executive officer of APO, told University World News last Wednesday.
“African
related news will be distributed to students across the world. Our content will
be made alive through this alliance,” he summed.
NewsBank
boasts of 40 years in supporting the research needs of public libraries,
colleges and universities, government libraries, non-governmental organisations
and experts around the world.
The
organisation collects current and archived information from thousands of
newspaper titles, newswires, blogs, videos, broadcast transcripts, business
journals, periodicals, government documents and other publications.
APO,
based at its headquarters in Dakar, Senegal, runs the news wire service for
press release distribution and monitoring in Africa.
The
releases are related to entrepreneurial and listed companies, government
ministries, political and economic institutions and NGOs, focusing on the
continent's social, economic, political and legal affairs.
Chuck
Palsho, chief content officer at
NewsBank, said in a statement that millions of students and library patrons
around the world will be able to use the content for studies of African nations,
global policies and finance, and more.
