Gov. Babatunde Raji Fashola Fights Unemployment In Lagos State, 1,132 gain Vocational Training, 574 Rehabilitated

In its offer to fight against unemployment, the Lagos State Government (LASG)
has educated 1,132 youths in various vocations and restores 574 others at its youth
centers across the state.
The Lagos State Commissioner for Youth, Sports and Social
Development, Mr. Enitan Oshodi, summed this at a press briefing
over the weekend.
"To keep the youth employed, cut down unemployment,
empower the pouring population of youth in the state and increase the capacity
of unemployed graduates, 1,132 youth gained from various vocational training in
youth centers across the state while 574 were turned through various
educational programs, workshops, seminars and activities on issues such as
leadership skills, HIV & AIDS, career development, teenage pregnancy, and
drug abuse." he summed.
He also said the purpose of the trainings was to cut down
unemployment and keep the youth employed, in acknowledgement of the important
role youths play.
"The state government acknowledges the important role
the youth play in nation building; As a result, the ministry has pursued with dynamism
various youth development programs to impact in them the common objectives of
nation building through well designed programs, seminars, conferences, training
and workshops; employing and empowering the pouring population of youths
through enterprising programs."
He added that the ultimate aim of the trainings is to cut
down social evil-doings.
“The services are directed towards promoting social change and
reducing social evil-doings such as fraud, armed robbery, sexual violence and
harassment, unemployment, illegitimate drug use, cultism within others
through character rehabilitation programs, discovering, nurturing and training natural
talents and potentials of the youth to make them useful to themselves and the
nation as a whole."
