Unilag 50th Anniversary Celebrations Kick Off With World Carnival!
Activities for the 50th anniversary celebrations of the University of Lagos have began with the Unilag carnival.
Starting from today the 20th of September 2012, a world carnival meant to highlight the culture and carnival styles of Brazil, China, Ghana, Jamaica, Egypt, India, Cuba, South Africa and Trinidad and Tobago will take place at the Main Campus Akoka.
The carnival will feature students from the Creative Arts Department as well as students from other faculties, this event will also include students of Theatre Arts and Music from Lagos State University (LASU). All activities of the carnival will be coordinated by Cornelius Onyekaba.
Event Schedule:
- Arrival of carnival groups at the carnival ground (Senate House Parking Lot) 11am
- National Anthems of participating countries 12noon
- Vice-Chancellor’s Speech and commencement of carnival parade 12:45pm
- Return of carnival train to the Senate House 3pm
- Closing activities and fireworks 6:30pm
Carnival Route: Senate House to Main Gate, Education, Ransome-Kuti, Distance Learning Institute (DLI), Health Centre, Science, Moremi Car-Park to Senate House Parking Lot.
