Tinubu Urged President Jonathan Over MAULAG
As rages grow from different parties over the renaming of University of Lagos, UNILAG, to Moshood Abiola University, MAULAG, Lagos Central District Senator, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has urged President Goodluck Jonathan to listen to the people, especially before implementation of policies.
During the presentation of her first year report Tinubu, stretched the legality of the name-change, that The President had written the Senate to give the name-change legal backing, stressing that she would not comment on the issue, as it was yet to be discussed on the floor of the Senate.
“I won’t say much on this matter. All I can say is that President Jonathan should listen to the people and give them what they want. That is how to be a true democrat. Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State has done it. He had shown that he is a true democrat by recalling the 788 sacked Lagos doctors. I want President Jonathan to follow lead and do what is necessary.”
She stated that every action of the government should be oriented towards the people, noting that there’s no honor that would be enough to compensate Basorun Moshood Abiola for what he fought for and represented, and respecting the people’s opinion would be the best way to honour the late politician and what he stood for.
