Community In Delta Sponsors At Least 69 Children To Earn NCE
A Community called Koko
in Warri
North Local Government Area of the state has sponsored about 69
students who have just graduated from the College of Education, Warri in its
Koko Study centre.
A statement by the Chairman
of the community, Mr. Jerry Atigan, says the community is also altered to
increase the number with about 38 indigenes who are in the programme and also
in their finals.
Mr. Atigan who made the
disclosure in Koko at the recent children's day celebration, said the feat is
not by coincidence and that it was planned at increasing the level of literacy
in the community.
He also said the
children's day celebration is done globally to modify the Nigerian child at a
time when the educational system of the country is in degradation, adding that
the Nigeria child and the country's education system has suffered.
He encouraged parents to
make the education of our children top priority, no matter how little the
income they earn, adding that the community has built and equipped a
twin-classroom block of about six classrooms and administrative offices in the
community to reduce the hardship of children who trek long distances to access
school daily.
